Chamisal Soil & Cellar Series: Summer 2026
A lot happens between the vine and the bottle. In our Soil & Cellar Series, winemaker Brianne Engles opens up the growing season from the ground up: the coastal fog, the long days, the small calls that shape every vintage. Take a look behind the scenes.
A Note from Brianne: Farming
As humble wine growers and land stewards, it is our privilege and obligation to ensure the vitality and resilience of our estate vineyard for decades to come. Our mission is to leave the land better than we found it and our wines are a result of the care and commitment we take every day to ensure the vitality of our soils, ecosystem, animals and humans that farm it.

We honor this commitment by farming using Organic practices which means we only use ecologically based pest and fungal controls and natural fertilizers. We also adhere to Regenerative farming principles including minimal tilling, grazing and compost applications, recognizing that healthy living soils produce healthy vines, which in turn produce vibrant fruit. We actively encourage biodiversity, focusing on healthy microbial populations in our soils and planting native plant hedgerows to attract beneficial insects and sequester carbon. We seek to understand Mother Nature with her rhythms and cycles so we can work with her intelligent systems rather than against her. Recognizing that the land is not simply a medium where we grow vines but a living and breathing organism, allows us to farm with a holistic approach, placing life at the center of every decision. By farming this way, we aim to preserve the truest form of terroir and authentic sense of place that can then be expressed through our wines.
