Tasting Notes

Our 2023 Camp 4 Rosé of Mourvèdre transports you to a tropical paradise with its captivating pale salmon hue and alluring guava aroma. This enchanting 100% Mourvèdre Rosé delights the palate with juicy guava and passionfruit flavors, balanced by clean acidity and a touch of minerality.

Food Pairing Notes

This wine’s elegant and vibrant profile pair beautifully with saffron risotto and seared scallops. It’s crisp acidity complement the dish’s rich flavor and delicate seafood.

Vineyard Notes

The warm, long growing season in the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County is about as Provençal as it gets in California. Camp 4 Vineyard was planted to Rhone varietals by Fess Parker and is now owned by the Chumash Indian tribe. It has become one of the top sources for Rhone grapes in the Santa Ynez Valley. The vineyard is planted on sandy loam soils, ideal for these naturally vigorous varietals, and experiences cool afternoon breezes blowing east from the Pacific through the Santa Rita Hills.

Hand-picked in the cool of the early morning and whole cluster pressed. Fermented in a combination of neutral puncheons and foudre (1200 gallon French oak cask) much like most Bandol rosé’s. Spontaneous native yeast fermented. Aged on the lees for six months with periodic bâtonnage. Fined using bentonite (clay) only for heat stability.
