An iconic expression of the San Luis Obispo Coast, this Pinot Noir opens with alluring aromatics of dark black cherry, purple florals, and ripe plum. The palate is layered and finely textured, where elegant fruit intensity meets seamlessly integrated oak and a warm undercurrent of spice. Complex yet impeccably balanced, it captures the purity and depth of the region’s coastal terroir. Graceful and commanding today, this wine promises extraordinary evolution over the next decade and beyond.
This wine finds its elegant companionship in the company of crispy roast duck or a roasted salmon adorned with wild mushrooms, creating a symphony of flavors and a truly delightful culinary experience.
Planted on a south-west facing slope from our Southern hilltop vineyard site, Morrito has consistently outperformed other Pinot Noir blocks on the estate. Morrito Hill’s soils are different in that they contain an abundance of calcareous rock and are referred to as the “Chamise shaly loam soil series”. Morrito is one of the first Pinot Noir blocks harvested and has been our most limited and sought after Pinot Noir since its inception in 2003.
