Spring 2022

Estate Update

We hope the beginning of 2022 is finding you healthy and happy. SLO welcomed some much needed rain in late December that set us up for a great start to the 2022 growing season. Our viticulture team is meticulously planting cover crops in between each vine to add nutrients into the soil and our hospitality team is preparing our Estate for your next visit. Spring is in the air and we’re excited to share our first release of the new year with you.

Our Spring release features the first of our 2020 vintage of Edna Valley Chardonnay and Edna Valley Pinot Noir, alongside our 2019 Chamise Chardonnay. 2020 put new meaning behind ‘dry’ January. We saw no significant rainfall for all of January and February which are our wettest months. Luckily, we received some late rain in March, April, and May, which in many ways is when it is most beneficial for our vines. Budbreak was delayed slightly due to the late moisture. Summer was mild with minimal heat spikes until September, when we saw a record breaking 120 degrees Fahrenheit at the winery over Labor Day weekend. We rushed into harvest although the vines proved resilient in the heat. 2020 was a historic year for wildfire but fortunately, there were no grapes in these releases that were impacted by smoke.
