May Releases
Longer days, sunlit evenings, and the return of fresh coastal fare mark the arrival of summer, and with it, two stunning new releases that reflect the beauty and nuance of our estate.
From what may be the only vineyard block in California planted and farmed specifically for rosé, our 2024 Malene Estate Rosé of Grenache is anything but typical. Crafted with precision and treated with the same care as our top tier whites, this vintage is layered, expressive, and built to evolve. Aromas of white peach, green strawberry, and delicate white flowers rise from the glass, grounded by wet stone minerality and a trace of sea breeze salinity. A touch of new oak and extended lees contact adds supple texture and depth, while vibrant natural acidity brings clarity and lift.
Also arriving this season, the 2023 Califa Pinot Noir, sourced primarily from the east-facing slopes of our iconic Morrito block. Grown in nutrient poor Tierra Sandy Loam soils, this vintage offers a vivid expression of site. Bright cranberry and ripe raspberry aromas mingle with rose petal and dried sage, while a silky mid-palate and delicate oak finish provide elegant structure and length.
This summer’s releases showcase the depth of our estate with a vibrant textured Rosé of Grenache and a finely detailed Califa Pinot Noir, each a pure reflection of our coastal vineyards and careful craft.
