2022 has been good to us thus far and we are grateful to have had the chance to see many of you at our special events and tasting room this year. From our ‘Chamily’ to yours, we wish you a healthy and joyous holiday season filled with love, great company, and fantastic Chamisal wine. Cheers!
We are thrilled to introduce you to the newest addition to the wine club team, Barbara Seguine. You may recognize Barbara from visiting our tasting room and we’re excited for her transition to her role as Member Experience Lead. Born and raised in the Central Coast, Barbara began her career in wine hospitality with Chamisal Vineyards earlier this spring. She is family oriented and lives just a stone’s throw away from Chamisal with her husband, daughter, and three nieces she helps raise. Her passion for wine and love for people guided her to Chamisal’s tasting room. Barbara has intimate wine knowledge, a captivating personality, and the ability to create memorable experiences for members and guests. She looks forward to connecting with you and providing exceptional service.
“Life is precious and what better way to spend your days than by creating beautiful, happy moments to last a lifetime.’
It’s tradition to kick off harvest with a celebratory toast with our Estate Sparkling wine. We saber the bottle and pour a little out over the first bin of grapes before it goes to press. It’s a great moment to pause and show gratitude for nature’s bounty and acknowledge the hard work ahead as our team guides the transformation from grapes to wine.
Harvest began a week earlier than ‘normal’ on August 9th. The first blocks harvested was Chardonnay for our San Luis Obispo County program and a touch of Estate Chardonnay for the base of our sparkling wine. Pinot Noir followed with blocks picked at their peak. The heat spell over Labor Day weekend brought triple digit temperatures to Edna Valley which moved this front-loaded harvest even further along. The vintage continued to throw some curve balls, testing our patience and resilience when we received two inches of rain the second week of September. The weather cooperated with temperate sunny Autumn days that slowly ripen the later Rhône varieties of Grenache and Syrah. Our team is impressed by the quality of grapes this growing season and look forward to sharing them with you.
